Cap: A pipe's terminus can be sealed with a cap. Usually, they are utilised in situations when the pipe's end won't be joined to another fitting.

Plug: Inserted into the end of a fitting instead of over the pipe's end, plugs resemble caps. They are employed to temporarily seal off the termination of a pipe or fitting.
